Background:
On behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is supporting the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) under the Indo-German Solar Energy Partnership-Innovative Solar (IGSP IN-Solar) hereinafter referred to as the ‘IGSP IN-Solar’ Project. The objective of this project is the development of innovative areas for PV, which have not been identified as potential but would be required to be developed to meet the country target of 500 GW by 2030. The main objective of this project is the improved conditions for the use of innovative, low competition areas for the use of land for the expansion of photovoltaic.
Under the IGSP IN-Solar Project, GIZ with guidance of MNRE is planning to support the “Designing and development of standards for solar mounting structure”. The main aim is to develop the standards for testing of solar mounting structures and develop the standardized mounting structure designs that will be effectively applicable to diverse solar applications including AgriPV, BIPV, FPV, Canal top, Urban PV, Rail/road PV. The project will also analyse the lab infrastructure for testing for structures and provide recommendations for creation of a conducive framework for the local production ('Make in India’) for solar mounting structures.

iii. Testing Lab Infrastructure assessment
